This course looks at the theory behind nonprecision and precision approach procedures, departure criteria, use of navigational aids and terminal airspace design. The lectures are all based on ICAO regulations. Lectures are followed by laboratory exercises to reinforce the theoretical learning. The course also includes a project to develop procedures and airspace at an airport.
Laboratory Exercises
A series of exercises designed to test the theory learnt in the classroom and undertaken immediately after each theory lesson.
Project
The project comprises the development of arrival and departure procedures from a given runway. The design is developed under the guidance of the course tutor and includes lessons on charting techniques. Students are also required to design the controlled airspace associated with the airfield and resulting flight profiles.
On completion of the TAPs course students will have the knowledge required for them to write approach and departure procedures for airfields.

More information about the Company, College and Courses:
Resource Training is owned and operated by Resource Group, international supplier to the aerospace, aviation & defence sectors providing engineering, recruitment and training solutions. Resource Group operates in specialist sectors including business aviation, MRO, aircraft design and production and aircraft ferrying and positioning.
Resource Training College enjoys excellent relations with UK airports, UK industry and UK Armed Forces and is able to offer students the opportunity to visit operational sites as part of their training, whenever relevant, but subject to usual security clearances. The civil ATC training is specifically designed to meet ICAO and UK CAA standards. The military ATC courses also meet similar standards but can be tailored to suit specific customer needs, thereby making optimum use of training time and maximising customer value for money. Our courses have been delivered to International Armed Forces, including NATO member countries such as Canada, Italy, and most recently the UK Royal Air Force, all of whom have benefited from our training.
We provide a flexible training approach offering both standard and bespoke courses that can be delivered at our own sites or customer-owned and operated locations. The facilities are state-of-the-art, incorporating the very latest simulation equipment and classrooms as well as student rest, recreation and study areas.
We are an established training provider, having taught over 2,500 students from 50 countries during our 26 year existence. We are an important provider of dedicated customer support and bespoke training solutions
We are part of a global company that provides engineering, recruitment and training solutions to several vertical markets within aerospace, providing us with a vast scope of knowledge and expertise. We have over 26 years experience of teaching military and civilian students around the world. We have an excellent track record of delivering high quality training to a large number of countries over a number of years. We recently trained UK Royal Air Force air traffic controllers in procedural control in preparation for operational overseas deployments.
We offer training that can be delivered in country by bringing our instructors, courseware and simulation equipment to the customer. All of our instructors are experienced experts in their respective fields. Our exmilitary controllers help to maintain a military ethos and use the latest doctrine and tactics to conduct our military training.
The Very Best Simulation Equipment
We operate some of the best and most realistic simulation equipment including:The C-ITS DATS 3D Tower Visual simulator for aerodrome control training which is one of only two 3D simulators approved by the CAA for the training of UK Air Traffic Controllers. The MASE simulator for other controller related training, the same simulator used by the UK Royal Air Force for their ATC and AD training. An independent UK aviation industry expert has rated MASE as the most realistic simulator of its kind. Each of our simulators can replicate the customer's own airspace and operating environment, based on current international charts, procedures and recommended practices.
College location and working hours:
The College is located less than 3 miles north of the M4 motorway, which runs from London to West Wales, and only 5 miles from Newport city centre and 18 miles from central Cardiff. For those travelling to the College from the Bristol direction it is easier and quicker to leave the M4 at junction 25a and head north along the A4042. College working hours are Monday to Friday 0830 - 1700. Student working hours are usually 0900 - 1600, although this may be adapted for individual courses.
